With today’s new home electronics technology, it is critically important to plan your overall eHome management strategy up-front. If you have an initial design that includes all the components listed on the Core Products page, you can purchase and install the pieces over a number of years, and they will work together to provide an optimal, total-control system. Without a plan, you will spend as much or more, and own a number of separate, “islands of control” that will be less convenient to use and provide less control.
At My Connected Home, we focus on the market-centric emerging products in each of the core areas so that we can help you develop a plan with the highest probability to be viable for integration of additional products in the future.
So, what’s the big advantage of integration? There are many… here’s a sample:
· Already, home management systems can provide web-based or telephone-keypad-based remote control. In the future, this will become cheaper and common. You will want all alerts and control capabilities standardized into one remote interface; not different “look-and-feel’s” for separate components… and you will not want to pay for multiple systems to contain (redundant) remote communication components.
· The security system may know when rooms are occupied, or windows are open, when people are home, away, or asleep. Wouldn’t it save energy and cost to regulate the heating, cooling and lighting systems with this information?
· Reliable voice recognition (and annunciation) technology suitable for home use is almost upon us. It will soon replace remote controls and keyboards with much more convenient and friendly control. It will run only on the more powerful personal computers. You will want one central computer providing this capability, so only control components that integrate with this central computer will be controllable by voice. Integration with audio distribution will provide the “voice” throughout the house.
